We are saddened to report that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg has died at 87 years old. The cause of death was complications from her metastatic cancer of the pancreas.

Official Statement

The Supreme Court released the following official statement on Ginsburg’s death from Chief Justice John Roberts:

“Our nation has lost a justice of historic stature. We at the Supreme Court have lost a cherished colleague. Today we mourn but with confidence that future generations will remember Ruth Bader Ginsburg as we knew her, a tired and resolute champion of justice.”

Cause For Concern

Those who have been following Ginsburg’s health battle closely know that her death is a major political issue. This is due to the fact that there is now a Supreme Court Justice position open, and there are widespread fears regarding who will replace her as Ginsburg was extremely liberal. With Ginsburg’s passing, there are fears of a conservative Justice being appointed, which would give the Republicans a majority lead.

Ginsburg knew this herself, stating before her death to her Granddaughter that “My most fervent wish is that I will not be replaced until a new president is installed.”

Our thoughts and prayers remain with Ginsburg’s family during this terrible time.
