Lamborghini CEO Stephan Winkelmann revealed that the luxury car brand has completely sold out of its gas-powered vehicles, signaling a shift towards electrification. In an interview with the German newspaper Welt, Winkelmann shared that Lamborghini’s future lineup will be electrified, starting with plug-in hybrid replacements for their Aventador and Huracan supercars, as well as a plug-in hybrid Urus SUV. Furthermore, Lamborghini has plans to launch its first all-electric vehicle later in the decade.

While the remaining gas-powered Lamborghinis are still being produced due to pre-orders, the brand’s focus moving forward will be on electrified models. This strategic decision is primarily driven by tightening emissions regulations worldwide, reflecting the wider auto industry’s transition to electric vehicles.

However, Lamborghini remains committed to delivering the exhilarating performance expected by their buyers while reducing the company’s carbon footprint. Winkelmann emphasized that electrification does not mean compromising on the brand’s heritage and legacy. The forthcoming plug-in hybrid, the 2024 Lamborghini Revuelto, exemplifies this approach. Combining a V12 engine, three electric motors, and a small battery, the Revuelto is estimated to produce over 1,000 horsepower, allowing it to reach 62 mph in just 2.5 seconds.

Lamborghini’s move towards electrification marks an important step in the luxury car industry’s ongoing evolution, showcasing the brand’s commitment to sustainability without compromising the thrilling driving experience that has defined Lamborghini for decades.
