Actor Kevin Costner has increased the proposed amount for child support, yet his estranged wife Christine still considers it “inappropriate,” as stated in court documents.

Christine, aged 49, previously requested $248,000 per month in child support for their three children: Cayden, 16, Hayes, 14, and Grace, 13. She argues that the offered amount is “insufficient to sustain the children’s accustomed lifestyle” and further seeks financial assistance for private school tuition, extracurricular activities, sports costs, and healthcare expenses.

Costner responded by dismissing Christine’s request as “exaggerated and unsupported,” stating, “Providing more than the basic necessities to the children does not necessitate indulging in excessive extravagance that primarily benefits the supported parent.”

He counter-proposed $30,000 per month, in addition to covering moving fees. Christine had postponed vacating the property until reaching a child support agreement; however, she received a court order this week to move out by month-end.

In recent filings, Christine describes Costner’s revised offer of $51,940 per month as “wholly inappropriate.” (Christine, previously a handbag designer and presently unemployed, estimates Costner’s monthly income to have been $2,043,241 last year.)

“Despite Kevin’s considerable wealth and extraordinary earnings, he seemingly expects his children to live well below his own financial means when they are with their mother,” stated Christine’s legal representatives.

“While residing in his beachside compound worth over $100 million and spending a minimum of $240,000 monthly on himself (with the children being with him approximately 40% of the time), he believes that his wife and children should manage with only 20% of that sum.”

Her legal team now contends that the appropriate figure is $217,300, citing historical data reflecting Christine’s greater amount of time spent with the children due to Kevin’s frequent out-of-town work commitments.

Additionally, Christine is seeking an advance of $350,000 in attorney’s fees and $150,000 in forensic costs from Costner.

The couple married in 2004 with a prenuptial agreement, a decade after Costner allegedly paid his first ex-wife Cindy Silva $80 million in their divorce settlement. Christine filed for divorce on May 1, citing April 11 as their separation date.

A source close to the situation recently disclosed to PEOPLE that Costner is keen on preserving as much of his estimated $250 million fortune as possible. (Christine’s side claims Costner’s net worth exceeds $400 million.)

Christine argues that the funds will assist her in establishing a “suitable separate household” so she can move out of the Santa Barbara compound, valued at approximately $145 million, where she and Costner have resided since their marriage. A separate source connected to Christine stated, “She expects Kevin to maintain their accustomed lifestyle.”
