In the world of former President Donald Trump, things can get a little weird on social media.
The former POTUS has been known to post some bizarre things – some funny, some misspelled, some concerning – but every now and then, reading his timeline is like stumbling into an alternate universe.
And that universe’s name? Magadonia. Apparently.
The former POTUS stirred up hilarity and mockery over the weekend after he offered his followers a new name for the world that they live in, and created a motto to go with it.
Trump took to Truth Social on Friday, posting, “FOX SHOULD EMBRACE MAGA. THEIR PRIMETIME VIEWERSHIP IS DOWN 37% FROM JUST A YEAR AGO, ALL BECAUSE THE VERY SMART, EVEN BRILLIANT, MAGADONIANS KNOW THAT, DESPITE ALL THE FAKE LIP SERVICE, FOXNEWS IS PUSHING RON DESANCTUS, OR ANYONE ELSE FOR THAT MATTER, BECAUSE THEY HATE THE GREATEST ‘AMERICA FIRST’ PRESIDENT TO EVER PUT ON A SUIT AND TIE, ME. THEY ARE ALL GLOBALISTS, AND GLOBALISTS WILL NEVER, MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!”

He then seemed to realize that he had stumbled onto something bizarre based on replies to the original post.
So Trump then wrote, “WE ARE MAGADONIANS, WE ARE VERY SMART, WE STICK TOGETHER AS ONE, WE FOLLOW TRUTH SOCIAL, WE PUT ‘AMERICA FIRST,’ AND WE WILL ‘MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!’”
Twitter users had a field day with the oddball declaration.
One user wrote, “Not sure where Magadonia is, but pretty sure it’s a s–thole country,”
Another wrote, “Okay, who left Magadonia unsupervised?”

And Congressman Ted Lieu even got in on the game, questioning the “smart” part of Trump’s post; “Magadonians sounds like a group of people that no longer exist, like Babylonians. Also, it is simply a fact of human experience that people who are very smart don’t go around saying they are very smart.”
One user wrote, “BREAKING: Magadonia has officially outlawed rainbows. Sources reveal a new amendment to their constitution:
‘If the woke rain forms a rainbow, Magadonians must run out of their trailers and perform a sacrifice of their wallets by sending money to the God of Magadonia.'”
Another Twitter user felt like things were a little more serious, writing, “He finally just said it. He never considered that he represented all constituents. He only represented his cult which is apparently now named Magadonia. This is what NO President or former President should ever say.”

All in all, the reaction on Twitter goes to show that the former POTUS is still facing some of the critical headwinds he faced ahead of 2016.
People are still not sure that he represents the interests of the whole country, and his inflammatory campaign rhetoric hasn’t helped his cause much.
Both Republican frontrunners – Trump and Florida Governor Ron DeSantis – are fighting an uphill battle against their own reputations.
To win the Republican nomination, they have to earn the support of the MAGA nations – aka, “Magadonians,” – but then to win in the general election, they have to prove that they’re not extremists and won’t pursue their own interests to the detriment of the country.
It remains to be seen if they can figure out how to walk that line and woo enough Independent voters to their sides.
